Commission a Birthday Banner!

Years ago I was creating birthday decorations for my daughter's fourth birthday. I wanted to cover a wall with a banner, saying "Happy Birthday Zoya"! I made a list of things she loved while doodling on paper. The banner was a hit! I continued to make Birthday Banners for my children. Each year they became more elaborate, with every letter representing one or more interests. Recently, when my son turned 15, I shared his Birthday Banner on Facebook. I was immediately flooded with requests.  People loved the idea of individualized birthday decorations that celebrated their child and his or her passions - these decorations are works of art and could be preserved as momentos. It would of course work for anyone, of any age - I just need to know the interests of the individual.

​Banners designed and created digitally and e-sent to print yourself, are approximately $25 per letter, depending on the intricacy of design.
Banners designed and hand-drawn/painted on 9"x12" watercolor paper are approximately $25 per letter plus shipping costs.

My good friend Erica commissioned a Birthday Banner for her daughter and shared her review below...

How did I capture a snapshot of my child’s current interests without keeping every artifact, taking countless disorganized photos, or focusing on only one as a theme for a birthday celebration? I gave my 12 year old daughter a customized name banner creatively crafted by Hema Bharadwaj!

Hema asked me for an inventory of my daughter’s likes and passions, which actually resulted in some surprises. “Who is her favorite anime character?” Um…wow...I have no idea. But I’m so glad I asked! Somehow, I’d never heard of Froppy (“I love the character, Mom,” she clarified, “but it’s not my favorite show.”). I didn’t realize Bob’s Burgers rates slightly higher for her than Gravity Falls. Or that her two go-to Overwatch characters are Mei and Mercy. Now I’m more engaged in our conversations about these topics, and more.

Each panel of these tailor-made images incorporates one letter of her name, cleverly constructed by weaving together multiple aspects of these worlds she loves. The pictures are vibrant, detailed, and just feel special. The result is a stunning illustration of who my daughter is right now, a collection specific to her daily life, a most treasured art piece designed just for her.
